This Dave & Buster’s sits on the north side of Colorado Springs. It’s not really on my list of go-to wing spots, but they currently have a deal where you get 20 wings for $20. At a dollar a wing, it’s hard not to at least check it out.

If you’ve never been to Dave & Buster’s, think arcade meets adult sports bar. It’s about more than eating — you come here for the drinks, games, and overall vibe. They also run some decent food and drink specials, especially during happy hour, which makes this more of an all-around night-out spot than a wing destination.

Looking at the menu (posted below), you’d think you had walked into a dedicated wing joint — a whole page is devoted to wings. The sauce selection is decent, though the dry rub options are minimal. The menu presentation definitely makes you feel like wings are a big deal here. Unfortunately… that’s about where the hype ends.

Pricing ranges from $1.00 to $2.00 per wing, depending on whether you catch them during a special or pay regular price. They also offer combo deals that include wings and other items, which might be a better value if you’re looking for variety.

As always, I ordered my wings XTRA XTRA crispy. Saying the word “crispy” was about as close as I got to actually getting it — these wings weren’t crispy at all. They weren’t the soggiest I’ve ever had, but they were definitely in my bottom few. I’m not sure if my request didn’t make it to the kitchen or if this is just their idea of “extra crispy.” If so, I don’t want to know what the regular version is like.

The meat had mostly clean pulls from the bone, with okay quality and a hint of fattiness. The sauces we tried — Nashville Hot (which was the hottest on the menu, though not hot at all) and Sriracha Honey — tasted fine, but nothing stood out. There were only two dry seasoning options, and we didn’t try either.

Veggies were mid-grade at best, and only celery was served. The blue cheese was actually decent, with a medium-strong flavor that blue cheese lovers will appreciate. We were supposed to get ranch as well, but were given two blue cheeses instead, so I can’t comment on the ranch.

X-Factor? Not much. They did have wet wipes at the table, which I’ll give them credit for since it’s becoming less common. (I’m trying, Dave & Buster’s.)

Bottom line: You don’t come to Dave & Buster’s for the wings. You come for the sports bar vibe, the drinks, and the games. The wings are fine if you catch them on special and just want something cheap to snack on — otherwise, there are better places in town to get your wing fix.
