This Buffalo Wild Wings (B-Dubs, BWW, BW3 — take your pick) is located on Academy Blvd in Colorado Springs. I’ve been to B-Dubs more times than I can count, and my experiences have definitely been all over the place. I don’t usually think “let me go get the best wings in town” and head to Buffalo Wild Wings… but this visit — which I only took because I felt like the site needed at least one review of the chain — ended up being one of my best visits yet.

Say what you will about BWW, but one thing they have going for them is their huge sauce and seasoning selection. Only a handful of wing spots we review offer this kind of variety. Personally, I’ve always had a thing for the Thai Curry sauce, but most of their options are solid. A few are sweeter than I prefer, but I know plenty of people enjoy that. I’ve included a few pictures of the menu below so you can see all the current sauce and dry rub options.

Pricing ranges from $1.20 to $1.83 per wing, depending on how many you order. That puts them right in the middle of the pack when it comes to value — and they occasionally run specials that bring the cost down further.

As always, I ordered my wings XTRA XTRA crispy. For the first time ever, the wings showed up with actual “XTRA CRISPY” stickers on the cardboard wing boat. I ordered two dry seasonings — Desert Heat and Chipotle BBQ — with Thai Curry and Wild sauce on the side.

My first bite was loud enough that my wife looked up — she heard the crispiness. She also saw the surprised look on my face, because I have to be honest: no matter how many times I’ve ordered XTRA crispy from BWW in the past, I’ve never actually received them that way — until now.

The meat had mostly clean pulls from the bone, and the quality was good. In the past, this has been hit or miss at this chain, but somehow they nailed it this time (and no, they had no idea I was writing a review). The sauces were as good as I remembered, and the dry seasonings were well-balanced. Overall, there really wasn’t much to complain about.

Veggies were mid-grade. I only got celery — not sure why, as I’ve gotten both celery and carrots in the past. I asked for blue cheese, which was just okay — not bad, but very mild, and didn’t stand out.

X-Factor? Definitely the sauce variety. Also, they still offer wet wipes at the table, which a lot of restaurants have dropped. It’s a small thing, but when you’re elbow-deep in wings, having wipes makes a big difference.

This is definitely a sports bar vibe with TVs everywhere. Some may like that, and some may not.

This is a tough one to score, because I’ve had plenty of meh experiences at this chain. But tonight, for whatever reason, B-Dubs nailed it. This review reflects this specific experience — and it was a good one. It’s worth the trip, especially if you’re in the mood to sample a bunch of sauces and seasonings.
