Red’s has a great story on their About Us page. I knew they were related to Abby’s Irish Pub and Red’s Sunset Grill, but it was cool reading their full story. They’re also part of Atmosphere Gastropub and Back East Bar and Grill. Sounds like a few New Yorker transplants—something I can relate to! I almost made a site reviewing pizza too, but pizza is so subjective; it depends on what you grew up with. That said, NY and New Haven style pizza will always win for me. Sorry, Chicago!
Back to wings—they’re a little easier to review.
Wings Overview
Being part of the Red’s and Abby’s group, I expected the wings to feel familiar. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. They were good, and I’d order them again—but I wouldn’t drive out of my way just for them.
Taste & Texture
I ordered XTRA XTRA crispy wings with a Cajun dry rub and Dragon Fire sauce on the side. They were reasonably crispy—probably delivered as normal crispy, which is still fine. The dry rub was very lightly seasoned, so I’m glad I had the sauce on the side. The meat had a clean pull from the bone, which is always a good sign.
Veggies were fresh and of good quality. The blue cheese sauce reminded me a bit of jarred dressing with crumbles added—surprising, since other locations in the group seemed better. Maybe I just didn’t notice before.
Price
Wings are $16 for 10, which works out to $1.60 per wing—a middle-of-the-road price.
X-Factor
Honestly, there isn’t much X-Factor here. These are solid wings if you’re hanging out for a beer or other activities, but they’re not a wing destination. That said, don’t hesitate to order them if you’re already at Red’s—they’re reliable.
